In our home we have our radio station tuned to either the Christian music or teaching stations, or classical. We both enjoy the mostly relaxing, but often exuberant sounds from the classical realm. One can truly get ‘lost’ in the midst of a beautiful symphony!
One morning as I was reading The Word, I got this vision in my head about us (Christians) sitting around in a huge orchestra pit trying to get tuned up and in sync with one another. We were all trying to make our own music, with only a few paying attention to the conductor. Needless to say, the sound was not very pleasant!
The Lord speaks to us in many ways. Sometimes it is through our pastors, sometimes it is through His Word. Sometimes it is through the beauty of nature, sometimes it is through a friend. Sometimes He speaks to us in dreams and visions, sometimes it is a whisper passing through our heart. Whatever way He chooses to speak, we need to be open to hearing His voice AND praying through that which He shows us.
How is your instrument sounding (how is your lifestyle)?
How does the piece you are playing come across? Smooth and flowing or squeaky, and off the beat?
Are you in tune with the orchestra? (Are you following the pattern/guidelines set up in The Word and walking in love, forgiveness, and unity with your fellow believers?)
Are you paying attention to the Conductor? (Are you IN the Word, praying, worshiping, listening? Are you applying His Word to your daily walk?)
“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.” 2 Peter 1:3 NIV
“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV
Prayer for the day:
Abba Father, may our lives become that of harmony with one another as we focus upon You, our Conductor. May the melodies You play through us become a beautiful symphony, for Your glory, in Jesus Name, amen!
