The right heart – “…and what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8b
The right mind-set against adversity – “But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me. Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I WILL rise. Though I sit in darkness the Lord will be my light.” Micah 7:7-8 (EMPHASIS mine)
The right understanding of God’s character – “Who is God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.” Micah 7:18-19
These verses speak volumes to us! If we can grasp the three steps that Micah has written for us here, we could stand firm through anything! The waves of life seem, at times to overwhelm, but:
* if we know the heart God desires us to have and obediently walk in it (6:8); and,
* if we can set our mind upon His victory over the enemy being ours (7:7-8); and,
* if we can understand how loving He is towards us and His desire to have close fellowship with us . . . forgiving us completely, through Christ . . .
What victory we would have in life!
Prayer for the day:
Abba Father, thank You for Your all-consuming love over us; for Your compassionate heart, and the mercy You extend to us. Thank You for forgiveness, and thank You for the victory in all things. Help us to get the right heart attitude and the right mind-set every day so that we may walk in Your ways, bringing joy to Your heart. You truly have given us everything we need, yet we stubbornly continue to try and do things our own way, struggling, wrestling with things that are really of no concern to Your Kingdom. Forgive us, Lord, and open our eyes so that we may obtain the Truth of these Scriptures and apply them to our life, today! Amen.
