Never Stop Believing

“Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to Him, crying out, ‘Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon-possession.’ Jesus did not answer a word. So His disciples came to Him and urged Him, ‘Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.’ He answered, ‘I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.’ The woman came and knelt before Him. ‘Lord, help me!’ she said. He replied, ‘It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to their dogs.’ ‘Yes. Lord,’ she said, ‘but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.’ Then Jesus answered, ‘Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.’ And her daughter was healed from that very hour.” Matthew 15:21-28

How many times have we felt that (or even been told, that) we are not worthy to be loved so completely by the Lord? How many times have we cried out to Him only to hear silence as a response? What was our response? Did we turn away rejected? Did we cry out all the more? Did we give up? Did we press in? Did we run the other direction altogether? What came out of our mouths; words of negativity or words of hope?

Dear ones, here was a woman who KNEW that she did not deserve to even approach Jesus, but knew deep down inside that He was her only hope for her daughter. She reached out to Him, believing that He did have the very answer she sought. She did not back away, she did not run away in tears, she continued to plead with Him. She acknowledged that she was undeserving, but that she would take anything He had ‘left over’, the ‘crumbs’ . . . she simply needed His reply – He was her last hope, her only hope.

Have you been there? I know I sure have! He IS my only hope for anything! It is to Him I need to run to, fall at His feet and partake of all He has for me. Am I deserving? – No. Only through the precious Blood that flowed . . . but, through that atonement, we can approach Him for our every need. We can know that He holds the answer for every situation we are faced with. Never give up believing that He CAN help you with your circumstances!
