Winds of Change?

Published January 29, 2015 by birdieklh

The days have literally flown by . . . or, perhaps with today’s subject, I should say ‘blown by’ it has been fast, furious, frantic and faith-full.

What the enemy had try to use to blow me over, stop me in my tracks, actually pushed my faith into another level.

Illness of family members, decisions to be made, MANY prayers to be said (continually), meetings for so many projects, being there to assist others with their needs – I could go on, but there is no need. Suffice it to say, there were arrows flying from every direction – time had a mind of its own and there I was stuck right in the middle.

B U T . . . I have on my full armor, I’m prayed up and ready to fight – so fight I did (the enemy).

I fought by refusing to accept defeat.

I fought by refusing to bend to adversity.

I fought by prayer.

I fought with The Word.

I fought with worship and praise, adoration and exultation to my King.

I stand firm – fully persuaded – that He is able and that He has already won the victory – it is already mine (and my family’s, too).

So, let those old winds come blowing – I care not – I will not bend, I will not break, and I will NOT move until Holy Spirit directs me to do so!!!

These next 10-12 days are going to be also very packed, so please be patient with my postings (or lack thereof). I pray God’s richest blessings over you.

He’s ALL You’ll Ever Need!

Published January 21, 2015 by birdieklh

I AM~     Part   1     ~

We have heard it, we have read it, we even live it (or at least we try) . . . but it is always a good reminder . . . as one of our Pastor’s did this past Sunday . . . and now I am passing it forward to you.

Do you have a need (protection, financial, emotional, familial, physical)? He IS The Great I AM . . . He IS Jehovah Jireh – “The Lord Who Provides” Genesis 22:12-14

Are you feeling lonely? He IS The Great I AM . . . He IS “The Friend who sticks closer than a brother” Proverbs 18:24 He will “never leave you or forsake you”  Deuteronomy 31:6, Hebrews 13:5

Are you struggling with illness? He IS The Great I AM . . . He IS Jehovah Rapha “The Lord who heals” Exodus 15:22-26

Are you fearful? He IS The Great I AM . . . He IS “The Prince of Peace” Isaiah 9:1, 6 – and He has given us that peace! John 14:27

Do you feel no one sees what you’re facing? He IS The Great I AM . . . He IS El Roi “The God Who Sees” Genesis 21:14-20, Psalm 139:7 (He is everywhere!) and He IS Jehovah Shamma “The Lord is There” Ezekiel 48:35

Are you feeling unworthy, ‘bad’, dirty? He IS The Great I AM . . . He IS Jehovah Tsidkenu “The Lord Our Righteousness” Jeremiah 23:5-6

Are you feeling rejected? He IS The Great I AM . . . He IS “The Beloved” and He has chosen you! Ephesians 1:6

Are you fearful/apprehensive? He IS The Great I AM . . . He IS Jehovah Shalom “The Lord is Peace” Judges 6:24, John 14:27, Joshua 1 (He is ALWAYS with us, we need never fear.)

We can go on and on and on . . . but let us meditate on these for just a bit first . . .

Living Abandoned

Published January 19, 2015 by birdieklh

Today, as I usually do, I put on You Tube prior to my getting started on my work time . . . blogging, ministry, prayer, etc.

This spontaneous worship song simply grabbed onto my spirit Abandoned (Spontaneous Worship) – Brian & Jenn Johnson! It got me to questioning myself, and I am presenting these same questions to you:

Do I / you / we truly have such a commitment to Christ that it is my hearts desire to live totally abandoned to Him???

  • Is my heart fully devoted to Him in ALL areas of my life?
    • home
    • work
    • school
    • down time
    • vacations
    • social schedule
  • Is my main focus on pleasing God or ‘watching out’ for myself?
    • Worshiping God with all I have or being subdued so I don’t have to think “what will people say?!
    • Sharing His gospel message with others no matter where I am or keeping quiet when I feel I should go speak with someone because of
      • time
      • embarrassment
      • nerves
      • possible rejection
    • Reaching out to my neighbors who may be in need of a friendly smile/word of encouragement or rushing about my own business, conveniently ‘ignoring’ them because
      • its none of my concern
      • they didn’t ask
      • my life is too busy
      • possible rejection

Dear ones, as this song so aptly puts it . . . NOTHING else should matter to us but Christ – Him alone!

I, for one, am choosing this day (and always, with Holy Spirit’s help) to live my life abandoned!

Feeling Boastful?

Published January 15, 2015 by birdieklh

Reading in 2 Corinthians 11 I came across Paul’s description of his life . . . again . . . how many times this passage has been read, studied, discussed, I can not count. But today it really hit me hard because of all of the various things my husband and I study every morning, the theme throughout the last few days was about making ourselves available to Christ – to truly listening to His Voice – being obedient to His instructions, no matter where they may lead us, no matter what we may have to face along the way.

“Oh,” we say “we’re doing that . . . bless God!” and then, we read about Paul. He listened to God, he obeyed, he was very influential for Christ in his lifetime – as well as throughout history – we still are learning from him! Do you remember what all he boasted about? His upbringing, the teachers he sat under, his zealousness for God, his knowledge of Scripture, even his Roman heritage? Yes, these were all mentioned. However, it was the times in which he sacrificed himself for the sake of The Gospel that he truly boasted about . . . let’s take a look at just a few:

“Five times I received from the Jews forty lashes minus one.” verse 24

Do we ever think of this? During Passion week, we do, concerning Jesus and what He went through for us, but Paul shares that this happened FIVE times in his ministry . . .

He also shares other things that were a part of his life . . .  hunger, being stoned and left for dead . . .

What about his experiences at sea? Three times shipwrecked, and spent one full day and night IN the sea – fighting for his life – he clearly states in verse 23 that he had been ‘exposed to death again and again’

He had been in danger wherever he went . . . in the city, in the country, from false accusers, from his brethren, from bandits . . . even spent MUCH time in prisons!!! (Praising God for this as he wrote most of his epistles through these specific times.)

These things . . . are what he chose to boast about!

The circumstances he faced in life – the times he had to completely rely upon Holy Spirit for strength, comfort, provision, protection. NOT the things he had done, no, but that which Christ accomplished THROUGH his times of struggle. ALL glory goes to God!

This causes me to cry out in prayer “Lord, forgive me!” Honestly, we’ve not been through anything anywhere near what Paul went through and yet he remained humble when he actually had much reason to boast about who he was . . . he chose, instead, to obediently follow after Christ and give Him all praise!

Mercy me . . . talk about taking a total knock out punch!!!

W H A M !

Here I am, a person who faithfully gets a flu shot every year – knocked on my behind – by Influenza A – took me completely by surprise, to say the least.

Anyway, I am on the mend, hope to be back to blogging in the very near future, but wanted you all to know that I did not drop off the face of the earth, only onto my back in bed due to illness.

Praying for all of my precious followers (I appreciate you all so very much), and promising to share some wonderful words the Lord has given me soon. Blessings,

Fighting Against Perfection

Published January 5, 2015 by birdieklh

fushia orchidsSo many times we long for things,
fight for things,
strive for things . . .
They remain just beyond our grasp . . .
Yet we press forward trying to reach them . . .
One of those things is – let’s be honest here – PERFECTION – yep . . . we want others to ‘see’ us as ever so capable – talented, smart, able to handle things with excellence.

However, when we don’t measure up to our own expectations of how we should be –

Or –

If someone else doesn’t ‘see’ all of the effort we’ve put in to a project –

simply put . . . we beat ourselves up . . . wondering what we could have done or said differently to achieve the desired results.

Okay, so we won’t always elucidate how the world sees us, or even how our perception of ourselves is, but does that mean we are to give up on trying to strive towards perfection? Hmmm…..

Let me answer both “yes” and “no”.

There is only ONE perfect person – Jesus Christ, Son of God, Messiah, King of Kings, Lord of Lords! That lets us know straight forward that no one, no matter how hard we try, will ever obtain perfection. So, that is the “yes”.

The “no” is that we ARE to become ‘imitators of Christ’ (1 Corinthians 11:1) . . . that means that we are to take on His character, walk in His love, mercy and grace towards all. That also means that we are to trust in His Word that tells us very clearly that as we walk in His ways, all we do will be blessed. We can strive towards doing all things with excellence, fully knowing that everything we accomplish is for His glory, done through His power and by His provision!

It truly matters not what others perceive in our words, actions and attitudes . . . IF . . . we are doing what we are doing as ‘unto the Lord’ and ‘not unto man’!

So . . . next time you find yourself beating yourself up over someone not realizing that you have done something – do a heart check! I know I had to this weekend! Whom am I trying to please by my service anyway?! Sure, it is nice to have people acknowledge you, but if they don’t it absolutely should not matter one iota whatsoever!

Lord, forgive me for my fighting with my own self this weekend over certain situations . . . thank You for reminding me that there is only ONE Who IS perfect and it is not me. May my heart stay pure before You and may all I do and say bring honor to Your Name! Not my name, YOURS!!! Thank You for the privilege of serving You by serving others (whether or not they recognize it or not) – let it all be for You, in You and through You, Holy Spirit – thank You for Your correction, in Jesus Name, amen.
