Every one of us can find ourselves ‘caught up’ in the busyness of life. We turn around, glance at the clock and wonder where the day went. Even when we are ‘busy’ for The Lord – some things that appear to be spiritual and “of God”, can be tricks of the enemy to deter us away from God into a different type of ‘faith’!
Take a look at Deuteronomy 13:1-4:
“If a prophet, or one who foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a miraculous sign or wonder, and if the sign or wonder which he has spoken takes place, and he says, ‘let us follow other gods’ (gods you have not known) ‘and let us worship them,’ you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The Lord your God is testing you to find out whether you love Him with all your heart and with all you soul. It is the Lord your God you must follow, and Him you must revere. Keep His commands and obey Him; serve Him and hold fast to Him.”
We need to be in constant prayer, with our spirit ears attuned to the leading of our most beloved Holy Spirit, about the things we are doing – even ‘ministry’ work. We cannot allow ourselves to be so caught up in the business of life that we neglect the One Who is within us! He is a jealous, all-consuming God – He yearns for us to be ALL His . . . so we need to do an ‘honest reflection’ of the following:
1. If I were to chart my day, what would have the largest time slot? What would have the smallest?
2. When, where and how am I furthering my relationship with God?
3. What is my life reflecting to others – am I allowing God to use me to help draw them into His Kingdom?
4. What truly IS my heart’s desire when it comes to my relationship with the Lord?
5. Am I submitting everything to Him? Or, am I submitting only part to Him?
James 4:4-5 says, “You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the spirit He caused to live in us envies intensely?”
Prayer for the Day:
Abba Father, we open up ourselves, completely, before You. We ask for Your Holy Spirit to show us areas we need to change and/or let go of in order to go farther with You. Lord, we want our lives to be pure, holy and fully focused on You. We desire to be vessels You can use for Your glory in Jesus Name, amen.
