When I contemplate life’s journey, my thoughts often bring me to the book of Job. There are times on our own road of life that events seem to bombard us with bumps, twists, turns, potholes, detours, etc. in very quick succession. This can be overwhelming, truly, but . . . God HAS given us everything we need to make it through.
Years ago I shared my ‘spiritual perception’ of GPS. Most of us are aware of, and many of us own and use some sort of GPS system to help us navigate through our travels from one point to another. God also has one for us. Okay, you’re thinking “the Bible”, and you are correct to a point – the Bible is our road map to life – but, I’m talking something very powerful which brings our road map to a deeper more precise dimension. My GPS is “God’s Powerful Spirit.”
This GPS is always present, always available, always ready with pinpoint precision, clear cut direction – ours simply for the asking! To tap into this powerful resource there is a requirement – an ongoing, personal commitment to be in communication with the Lord. God’s Word tells us that the sheep KNOW the voice of their Shepherd. How can we, if we don’t spend time with him on a regular basis? When you receive a phone call from someone you were very close to that you have not spoken with for a while, don’t you immediately recognize their voice? Of course! You know it as if you just heard it earlier that day because you spent so much time together that you simply recognize the sound. It is the same with our Lord. The more we spend time in His presence, the better we get to KNOW Him. We will recognize His voice! Once we are aware of His voice, we are tapped into His GPS!
We never need to feel lost, stranded, confused, or anxious on our journey. Even when you have a “Job” week (good employment turning into an unemployment line, medication costs skyrocketed from insurance changes, vehicle dying in the middle of the road – to name a few examples). When these circumstances happen to us, my husband and I find ourselves going back to Psalms 37 – trust, dwell (in His presence), delight (ourselves in Him), commit (everything to Him), keep trusting, BE STILL (why is this sometimes so hard?), do not fret, refrain from anger (neither of these two things help anything except perhaps to give you high blood pressure and headaches!), hope in the Lord and enjoy great peace.
When we do these things – we know we will receive divine direction for each and every twist and turn that we may be facing. You know? God has a way of taking the most harsh, devastating, traumatic things and turning them out to be glorious victories and powerful testimonies in our lives! He is good . . . ALL the time!
Thank You, Abba Father for Your loving mercy and grace – bless You!!!
