Overwhelmed by Grace

Published August 1, 2016 by birdieklh

This song TRULY expresses my own heart these days . . . If you’ve been following my other blog (Daring to Make a Difference) you already are aware of the fact that recently the Lord has given me a huge push (kick in the pants) to step out and start sharing publicly a deep dark secret I’ve held for 43 years and 5 month now. . .I fought Him, like I’m known to do from time to time when He wants me out of my ‘comfort zone’, but as He lovingly continues to prompt me, I relent; I surrender; I submit and start going forth with that which He is leading me to do.

It is NOT an easy thing to do after that many years of secrecy to start sharing with a few people, let alone with the world, but I know (from past experience) that as I do step out in obedience to His call, His GRACE IS there all the way, and that glorious grace is overwhelming!

So, casting down every vain imagination, (2 Corinthians 10:5); resting in Him FULLY (Psalm 91); trusting in Him (Proverbs 3:5-6), I put one foot in front of the other and began this new phase of my journey.

I KNOW beyond any shadow of any doubt that He always provides everything that is needed when you are in the center of His will. Even when we do not see, cannot even begin to imagine where the path will eventually lead, even when the enemy tries to throw doubts and lies your way that you are ‘not up to the task’!  I CHOOSE to be obedient to His call. (see 1 Samuel 3)!

And, now, as I have walked through several doors of opportunity – sharing my story – the GRACE, the LOVE, the response of others has been incredible. The words He is having me speak are truly helping to reach out to the hearts and lives of others for their own healing and it is overwhelming.

There is a local radio station here in San Antonio, KDRY 1100 AM that airs a segment every Sunday afternoon at 2:30 pm called  “Urban Missionaries”. I will be sharing my own personal journey as well as the legal aspects of the issues and what is being done to educate people in this matter AND numerous areas of resources to help others who have (or are) experiencing the same as I – hiding a deep dark secret. You see, as we hide things deep inside, they grow/fester and cause all kinds of side effects that we do not even think have anything to do with it – I sure didn’t!

Another thing I have done is create a special page on our website with resource links and testimonies. My own journey will be posted soon as well, and I am praying for the funds to upgrade the website so that I can actually post the audio from the various broadcasts that I’m doing.

I pray that as you face whatever you find yourself facing today – whether current issues or something that is haunting you from your own past – that you can realize, accept and KNOW that His GRACE IS SUFFICIENT . . . in fact it is absolutely overwhelming (in the best possible way)!

To Step Into Our Destiny

Published May 20, 2016 by birdieklh

We have this concept that as we have great things ahead of us we need to step up and into ‘bigger shoes’ in order to fulfill it. . .well, I always had that concept . . .

However . . . the other day the Lord had me looking up the meaning of some names (specifically the leaders of the Twelve Tribes) and just as they ended, I saw the next chapter spoke about King Saul. So, I looked up Saul (just because) and saw that HIS name meant “desired”. Well, that got me thinking about Saul of Tarsus . . . who the Lord reached out to in a very unusual way . . . a way that left Saul with a NEW name and absolutely NO question in his mind Who and why . . .

I felt compelled to look up his new name, Paul, as well. It means “small, little.” WOW! What a contrast! But . . . “Lord,” I ask, “what does this all denote?” Whew! the answer into my spirit was profound, and I desire to share it with you.

  1. We often do the wrong things for the right reason – we are zealous, like Saul was, but our eyes are blinded to the REAL Truth that we should be following after/working for.
  2. We are doing things (for the Kingdom, we believe) but we think too highly of ourselves (because we are ‘doing’ work and seeing results – but are they the results God wants?), Romans 12:3 NKJV  “For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.”
  3. His desire for us (the plans He has for us, the job/tasks/ministry, etc) are often missed because we do not humble ourselves before Him and truly seek His will and His way!

Dear ones, God has a plan, a purpose, a destiny for each and every one of us. He had it in mind for us before He created us in our mother’s womb! Yet, how many of us are running around, living our lives as Saul (desire) yet missing IT because we are zealous in the wrong way? Or we are patting ourselves on our own back for accomplishing something while at the same time God is desiring us to be SO much MORE! The key (if you will) that unlocks our destiny; the absolute call He has on our lives, is to allow Him to change our name (our heart) to Paul . . . become small, become little!

Remember, even John the Baptist recognized this fact! John 3:30 NKJV “He must increase, but I must decrease.”

Paul, in his dramatic encounter, completely humbled himself. He sought out more knowledge of Who Christ IS and His plan for his life. He submitted himself to the guidance of others who had actually walked with the Lord (laying aside his ‘high’ education). He listened, he learned, then in that place of smallness, God was able to do GREAT things. The great things He had desired of him and for him when He had first given him the name Saul (desire)!

When we concede our will to His; when we put aside all our ‘learning, knowledge, ideas, etc.’ and acquiesce to Holy Spirit’s guidance – then, ah yes, then we are ready for Him to use us for His glory and for the furthering of His Kingdom!

Abba Father, change our hearts – we humble ourselves before Your Throne, realizing that You desire so much more for us. Forgive us for doing so much ‘work’ for You instead of letting You work THROUGH us. Abba, change our name from Saul to Paul – do a work deep inside of us – a work that is established in Heaven, brought down to earth to have a mighty impact for Your Kingdom. Help us to get out of the way and allow You to have Your perfect will in and through our lives. for Your Glory, amen and amen.

A Huge Thank You!!

I am overwhelmed!

I hardly have words to speak!

2015-12-09 11.35.24

It has been a number of months since I have been posting on a regular basis. Originally it was once a day on at least two of my three blogs, then it went down to a couple of times a week, then less, and now it seems like I have hardly had time to post but a couple times a month. So, this morning, I was sitting here thinking about all of those faithful ones who have been following my blogs, some for over three years now. I pulled up the stats, and was reading through all of the names, lifting you up before the Lord…

You are on all continents. You are all from different walks of life. You are of all color. You are male, female, young, old (and all in-between). My heart flooded with encouragement and gratitude!

Yesterday I was reminded to ‘follow’ the dream that God has placed in my heart. As you, my faithful followers, know, that is a dream of ‘making disciples’ and of ‘making a difference’ in the lives of others. Of speaking God’s Truth (His Word) and sharing how to apply  it to your life so that you can live victoriously. That DREAM deep within my being is like a fire in my bones! I have not let it go, yet, I have allowed other things to bump my time away from it more than I should have.

My spirit is rekindled with the passion to continue pressing ahead with the dream(s)God has placed within me and that Holy Spirit is prompting me to turn my focus back upon.

So . . . with a humble heart, a grateful heart, I thank you and I declare that I will get back to that dream 100% from this day forth. Thank you for continuing to follow, for continuing to send me encouraging notes about how my blogs have impacted your journey with Jesus – strengthened your faith walk through these words – I praise God for each and every one of you!

Remembering? How Can We Forget?!

Published September 11, 2015 by birdieklh

Today is a day of great reflection.

It should be. 911

Today is a day when we all remember where we were and what we were doing on 9/11/01.

We should.

Today is a day when we contemplate the state of our United States, where we are headed as a Nation and our safety.

We should.

                     . . . BUT . . .

newsweek 911 photo

We should do this not just once a year on the anniversary of this tragedy, but every day!

We need the times of reflection to refocus our prayers over our nation, over our leaders, over decisions that are made and in the process of being made. We may not be politicians, but we DO have power – that power is PRAYER!

As we get down on our faces before the Lord, interceding for the things of this nation, praying for those in authority, asking God to grab hold of their hearts, turn them towards Himself and for His wisdom to be revealed through Godly advisers. Our prayers DO make a difference, my friends!

We can be praying for the families and businesses that were affected by the attack on our nation. Children have been growing up without one of their parents, perhaps both. Many have had to go on without their spouse, their child, their grandparent. People have had to change their way of life, the places where they work, perhaps so impacted that they could not even begin to think of ever working again in a high rise . . . many have moved into rural areas where they can ‘try’ to feel safe once more.

Our prayers DO make a difference!

So, go ahead, reflect upon this day and all that it represents . . . grieve along with our nation, but take it farther and bring it before the Lord – allow Him to heal whatever hurt is still in your heart – allow Him to strengthen and renew your thinking – allow Him to be your shelter, your safety – trust in Him – rest in Him!

Against The Flow

Had a GREAT conversation with a very dear friend this morning . . . we discussed a lot of things, but the main emphasis of our discussion was what could be triggering in me certain actions/reactions. And, along with that . . . trying to figure out ‘why’ people didn’t see me like I really am.

Mercy! If someone figures that one out, let me know!

Anyway, it got me to thinking . . . for my whole life (or so it seems) there have been wrong impressions of who I am and how I am. I can say one thing, and it be heard as something completely different. Or, I can do something because I feel prompted by Holy Spirit to do it, and yet people can assume I want something for it or from it! There have been years of ‘trying to prove’ myself to others . . . I truly believe I had overcome all of that ‘junk’, but I am praying for more revelation in light of today’s discussion.

It is as if I must live my life with some kind of a shield around me that does not allow people to really see me, or the ‘real’ me. Do you ever feel like that? Do you ever feel like there are times when you are going completely against the flow of others around you – I mean – you ARE going in the same direction, in the same circles, attending the same functions, etc., but something just isn’t quite in sync with them?

All I truly know is that I am a much loved child of the Living King. I am His beloved, and I am precious to Him. I know that He loves me more than I could ever begin to imagine, and that He is pleased with the woman I have become (and am becoming – I am constantly growing and learning to be more like Him). So why in the world should it matter if others don’t see me as He does? Well, it shouldn’t!!! But . . . if we are all honest with ourselves, it does. Somewhere deep inside, we feel the need to be ‘accepted’, ‘acknowledged’, ‘encouraged’ . . . whatever words you wish to put on it . . .  we live in a world with other people in it and we would like people to ‘see’ us for who we are.

In the mean time, even if others don’t (or won’t) ‘see’ me like God does, I will continue to keep on seeking to become more and more like Him each and every day of my life. I will continue to do the things He asks me to do. I will continue to go to the places He directs me to go. And, I will continue to BE the person He asks me to be – my completeness is IN Him, and Him alone.

I will keep moving forward, becoming spiritually stronger with each passing day. I will continue my heart’s cry to be a vessel He can use for His glory and for the furthering of His Kingdom. NO MATTER WHAT happens, what comes at me, or against me. No matter what others may say or do or even think! I want my life to matter to Him and for Him.

Abba Father, continue Your work in me and through me. Take this person that I am and keep molding and shaping me into all that You desire me to be. Use me, Lord, to reach out and make a difference in the lives of others. Help me, Abba, not to even look towards others for affirmation, but only to You, because the bottom line is that it is You and You alone that matters! I want to be strong in You, Lord, I want to have an impact in this life – pointing others to a victorious walk with You – open my spiritual eyes to see the things that still need to change within me to accomplish all that You desire to accomplish in me and through me. In Jesus Mighty Name, amen.

Before Our King

How can we NOT simply drop to our knees in adoration of the Glory of our Lord and King?

When He meets with us, His Sweet Holy Spirit wraps Himself lovingly around our being, we can do nothing but melt in His presence!

At a conference this weekend that is exactly where I was . . . on my knees . . . on my face . . . tears of deepest gratitude flowing from my eyes, soaking the floor before me. My hearts cry was, “Just You and me, Lord, just You and me. I am overwhelmed by Your presence. Thank You, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!”

There are times (like these) when I do not ever want to open my eyes, stand back on my feet and march back into ‘life’. I know there is much work to be done in His Kingdom, and of that I am grateful to be a part, but to have to leave those times of deepest intimacy (my heavenly reality) back to worldly reality of ‘things to do’, ‘people to see’, ‘places to go’, ohhhh, my heart cries, “No, Abba, more time with You!!!” But, that is quite selfish! How can people hear if I do not speak? How can people know if I do not show them? God gives us those intimate times to help us “Find our Voice” (the name of the conference I was at, sponsored by Deep Grace Ministries) and then go forth boldly, lovingly proclaiming that which He has asked us to do!

So, I must make the choice to step out of my own desires, my own selfishness (of wanting to dwell in that solitude of just ‘Him and me’) and go on about the tasks set before me. It is all about Him – His Kingdom – His Glory, and He desires all to come to know Him.

As the song says, “Lord, here I am, down on my knees again, surrendering all, surrendering all, and find me here as You draw me near, I’m desperate for You, I surrender.” This, too, is my hearts cry. Along with that I say – HERE AM I, LORD, SEND ME!

Waiting or Waiting?

Published August 1, 2015 by birdieklh

Are you waiting for?

are you

waiting on?

image from

We wait all the time.

We wait in lines in the stores.

We wait in traffic for lights to change or some obstruction to be cleared.

We wait in doctor’s offices.

We have to wait our turn here and there and everywhere.

Even God asks us to “wait”. We are to wait on Him. Wait in prayer. Wait in faith, expectantly. We are to wait and not faint.

But . . . there are two kinds of ‘waiting’. The kind of waiting where we are simply biding our time for something to change, someone to come, or our turn to ____________________ fill in the blank. Then there is the kind of waiting that is fully active – waiting on someone else, helping to fulfill a need, like those who ‘wait’ tables.

I fully believe that the later is the true sense of the word ‘wait’ that the Lord is speaking to us. It is an active waiting.

Being fervent in our prayers.

Being active in our churches.

Being active in our communities.

Speaking forth His Word, His Truth, His principles, taking a stand for righteousness.

Sharing our testimonies boldly in order to help bring encouragement and hope and restoration to others.

Sharing His Love with those around us, those He strategically places along our path.

“…and when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:8b

Abba Father, I want to be one of those who are truly waiting on You. Serving You, actively involved where You send me and how You instruct me as I am awaiting Your return, fervent in my prayers, strong in Your Love. I desire that You find me faithful in my waiting upon You. Show me what You would have me do, Lord, I am Your willing handmaiden, ready to do Your Will as I wait on you and for you, in Jesus Name, amen.

Is It Me? Or – Is It a Call to Intercession?

Published July 30, 2015 by birdieklh

Last week there were MANY struggles. Emotionally. Physically. Spiritually.

I took them all personally, fought the good fight of faith and prayed through to victory. Victory was achieved, however, my armor was banged up somewhat.

Then, at our women’s conference that we held on Saturday, I found out that the other leaders also went through similar struggles. Most of them, unlike me, did not take them personally but took them as a call to intercession on behalf of the women that would be coming to the conference.

Sure enough – every woman that was set free at that conference was set free from some of the VERY SAME ISSUES we had all experienced! Isn’t that just like our God to allow us to truly experience things so that we can intercede from the depths of our beings?!

Did I intercede? Yes! But, I thought I was interceding for myself – silly me! I’ve been around the block a few times – I should have known better. But, quite honestly, a few years had passed since the last time I was involved on the front lines in a conference setting and I simply forgot. All I can say is Father, forgive.

I said all that to say this. Dear ones, when we experience an onslaught of ‘things’ in our lives, perhaps we had better step back and ask the Lord to reveal if it is us or if it is a call to intercession on behalf of another. Intercession over various things works either way, but when we allow ourselves to become very specific, there is greater victory!

We are called to be Jesus to people, and He was sent to ‘set the captive free’, etc. Therefore, our call is the same – so is it a call to intercession – if so – INTERCEDE with fervency like never before! Time is short and we need to be in the trenches!
