Lost and Found Department

Do you ever find yourself standing still, looking up at the crossroads of “Lost” and “Found” and wonder which one you are really on? They run against one another, but they do intersect often (or so it seems in my life).

In the natural, I’m always ‘misplacing’ (loosing) things . . . perhaps you can relate:

Cell phone

Thumb drive

Keys

Eyeglasses

Shopping list

Something I purchased

. . . the list can go on and on and on . . . oh, I KNOW they are around – somewhere – but I can’t put my hands on them at the moment I need/want them.

Anyway, I digress.

We can not always readily get a hold of things we want but we can ALWAYS rest assured and be at peace with the ‘found’ department that we have full access to anytime day or night for our spiritual needs! Glory to God!!!

He is as close as the whisper of His Name!

His heart towards us is always ‘yes’ and ‘amen’ (2 Corinthians 1:20)!

His desire for us is a ‘hope and a future’ (Jeremiah 29:11)!

When we take up the position of praise . . . the position of worship . . . the position of the branches CONNECTED to The Vine (John 15). . . we are never ever lost!

Here’s how it can work for you (it works for me and countless others I know)!

  • surrounded by chaos? . . . let His peace be released in your situation dove in flight
  • faced with a bad report (job, personal, medical, financial)? . . . let His peace be released in your situation
  • uncertainties overwhelming you about the things are coming at you and decisions that you must make? . . .  let His peace be released in your situation.
  • too many distractions in your life just now? Get your worship on and allow His peace to be released in your situation!

Am I talking about a change of attitude? Something you need to say or do differently? Well, yes and no . . . it is an internal issue, not an external thing. His peace, that passes ALL understanding is what we must allow to guard our heart and mind (Philippians 2:7)! Only in Him and through Him can we walk in complete victory. He sent His Holy Spirit to indwell our very being and to give us everything we need for this life we now live (2 Peter 1:3).

Dear ones, learn to cast all your cares upon Him, and simply TRUST Him with every single aspect of your life . . . no one loves and cares for you more than He does!

Being Obedient, Even Unto Death

Published September 21, 2016 by birdieklh

Jesus made the choice to come to earth, to take the form of man, Whom He created, to take our sin upon Himself and die a most horrible death – on a cross. Now, most of us will not have to face such things as death on a cross . . .

jesus-on-cross
image from http://www.reasons.org

but . . . There comes a time (often, many times over the years) that we must press forward in obedience to that which Christ calls us to do even when it means there might be consequences of death.

Death of dreams.

Death of relationships.

Death of ______ (fill in the blank).

The questions we must ask ourselves are:

  1. Is the above ________ worth more to me and my life than serving my Lord wholeheartedly?
  2. Am I quick to forgive (even though it HURTS)? Matthew 6:15, Matthew 18:21
  3. Am I walking in the unconditional love of Christ? 1 John 3:16, 2 John 5-6
  4. Am I extending grace to others regardless of what may be said or done to me or to my character? Romans 15:5, 2 John 3
  5. And, speaking of character, am I truly exemplifying the character of my Lord by my responses?  Ephesians 5:1-2

It all boils down to choices – we cannot choose the words and actions of others, but we CAN choose how we respond to them. We can lash out, we can throw tantrums, we can argue the facts, dwell upon the negativity and possibly grow a strong root of bitterness, anger and/or resentment . . .

OR

. . . we can choose to allow the Love of God to permeate our being, and allow it to spread to others.

. . . we can choose to forgive and to pray blessings over the people, circumstances or situations involved. Matthew 5:44

. . . we can stand upon God’s Truth and allow Him to be our defense. Psalm 72:4 Jeremiah 50:34, Isaiah 51:22

Abba Father, I pray your blessings over those whom I love so dearly. Sometimes wrong choices are made, choices to listen to false lies, accusations, and the like. I choose to forgive and continue to love as You love us – unconditionally. Lord, God, pour out Your love, Your peace AND truth into the lives of my beloved friends and family. I thank You and praise You for the gift of each and every one of them in my life. I pray for reconciliation and for unity among us, for Your glory and the furthering of Your Kingdom, in Jesus Mighty Name, amen and amen!

Where I Find Myself . . .

Between a rock and a hard place (or so the saying goes).

image from blogs.psychcentral.com

Yikes! As a woman of strong (or so I thought) faith, this image of a stray sheep stuck where it doesn’t belong truly fits my ‘feelings’right now. I truly hate to admit that, but you see, circumstances beyond my control – don’t you love that phrase? – chased me right into a hard place and now I feel as though the very breath is being crushed out of my being!

Wondering about the how, when and why . . . tears flowing . . . yet I do still have that precious, unending, overwhelming, beyond understanding PEACE within. It is a very amazing thing . . . this battle between spirit and flesh!

What to do, what to do . . . . Oh! The ONLY thing one can do in a time like this . . . “having done all, to stand!” Ephesians 6:13 . . . and, stand . . . I am! Here is what I am choosing to stand upon:

My God is the ONE Who provides for all my needs!

My God is ALWAYS watching over me, He is over me like a banner, a shield!

  • Song of Solomon 2:4 Jehovah Nissi and I build my life as an altar before Him because He is my banner! Exodus 17:15
    • Actually, Jehovah Nissi also stands for “The Lord my miracle”, according to Blue Letter Bible  (and I need a miracle right now!)
  • He is my shield, my buckler, my rock, my high tower, my place of refuge!!! He gives His angels charge over me! Psalm 91
  • Nothing can EVER separate me from His love!!! Romans 8:38-39

These are but a few of the promises I am clinging to . . . and I am trusting with all my heart . . . He is ever Faithful . . . this is just one of those times when the trusting comes along with a wee bit of “Lord, I believe, help Thou my unbelief.” because my flesh cannot comprehend all that is happening . . . but I am praising Him through it all . . . KNOWING He always has my best in mind . . .

Abba Father, thank You for Your love. Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for Your peace as I go through this valley. Thank You for washing me with waves of Your peace, and thank You for forgiving my moments of doubt. I know beyond any shadow of any doubt that this too will pass and all will be for my good and Your glory. In Jesus Name, Your Handmaiden awaits Your plan, amen.

The Root of the Problem

Published September 6, 2016 by birdieklh

WOW . . . talk about a tangled mess! Mercy me!

These past few weeks some nasty roots were exposed. I say ‘nasty’ because it was  NOT nice, not one bit! They are (were) a gnarly mess to say the least! Just like this tree with its roots exposed, you can actually SEE the twisted, discombobulated wreck.

Now, you may be thinking, what in the world is this lady talking about? Well, let me tell you . . .

Years ago I had been diagnosed with multiple (painful, serious) conditions within this shell which I call my body. Those specific diagnosis I grabbed a firm grip on, clung to, spoke of them I (grumbling, complaining, declaring them to the world) and saw myself getting steadily worse and worse. So much so that I found myself in a wheelchair for 2 and a half years! [I know I have shared bits and pieces of this before, forgive any repetition]

After multiple surgeries (double hip replacements and a few other ‘repairs’) I also had a spiritual surgery done upon my heart by my loving Heavenly Father! He reminded me through His Holy Spirit, and His Word, that Jesus blood was shed not only for the forgiveness of my sins, but for the healing of my body!!! He also reminded me that the power of life and death is in the words we speak (Proverbs 18:21)! Those words have the power within themselves to fulfill . . . and . . . what was coming out of my mouth???!!!

O U C H ! ! !

So, the result of this was my CHOOSING TO CHANGE MY SPEECH! The result of that was I started seeing the results. Is the pain completely gone? I truly wish I could say a loud “yes”, but that is not the case; however, I have made it a habit to declare God’s Word, stand upon His promises and press on ahead with life.

…but…going back to the title of today’s message . . . the ugly roots that revealed themselves are as follows:

  • My body reacted to stress from various sources over the past few weeks
  • I allowed myself to ‘share’ a bit with others about it, for prayer(?)
  • I saw and FELT the symptoms begin to worsen once again
  • I allowed myself to listen to counsel about ‘taking it easy’ and/or ‘taking time away from obligations’. . .the results . . . don’t even want to say, to be honest

Roots. Tangled, ugly, twisted roots! Roots that were sapping out the wrong ‘nutrients’ (the negative instead of God’s Truth!) and I allowed it! All I can do is repent and PRAISE GOD, accept His loving forgiveness and strength and continue to move forward in faith, fully standing on His Word and His FINISHED work at Calvary!

What roots has Holy Spirit revealed to you? and, what are YOU doing to properly cultivate them?

Hearing The Heart of my Father

James-1-5-Bible-Quote

As I sit here, rain falling steadily, I got to thinking:

“Why in the world are more of us NOT taking the time to sit in the presence of our Lord, truly listening to hear his heart?!”

I mean, let’s be honest here . . . we love the Lord, we attend services, we listen to Christian music, we (for the most part) select to hang out with like-minded brothers and sisters in the Lord . . . but, what about the MOST important FRIEND we have? What about our time with HIM???

Sure, we lift up a whispered prayer for our day. We may even speak a few names before we rush out the door, asking for protection or healing or provision. Then what? Honestly? The majority of us simply get on with life – with the ‘things’ of this world that we must address during the course of day-to-day living.

Oh, how we must grieve the Father’s Heart! Over and over in His Word we are given examples of great men and women of Faith who also had to face ‘things’ (the regular things of life) yet they took the TIME to seek out the Father’s Heart.

Let’s take a look at a few:

Judges 20:27         –          1 Samuel 22:10          –       Nehemiah 2:4          –       Daniel 1:17

Within the pages of our Bibles we have example after example; Old Testament as well as the New, where men and women of God took the time to seek the Father – AND took the time to heed His response – they LISTENED and then they acted upon His instructions!

The results were phenomenal!

Dear ones, His wisdom is ours –

         if we seek it!

His protection is ours –

    if we seek it!

His peace is ours –

    if we seek it!

His provision is ours –

  if we seek it!

What is the MAIN reason we should seek the Lord??? I love what this verse says:

But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul. (NKJV)
… to me, the “but from there” means I can apply this verse to any situation I face – there is NOTHING to big or too small for me to bring before my God! If I reach out in faith, wholeheartedly – He is ever faithful to answer!     if we seek Him and LISTEN

Overwhelmed by Grace

Published August 1, 2016 by birdieklh

This song TRULY expresses my own heart these days . . . If you’ve been following my other blog (Daring to Make a Difference) you already are aware of the fact that recently the Lord has given me a huge push (kick in the pants) to step out and start sharing publicly a deep dark secret I’ve held for 43 years and 5 month now. . .I fought Him, like I’m known to do from time to time when He wants me out of my ‘comfort zone’, but as He lovingly continues to prompt me, I relent; I surrender; I submit and start going forth with that which He is leading me to do.

It is NOT an easy thing to do after that many years of secrecy to start sharing with a few people, let alone with the world, but I know (from past experience) that as I do step out in obedience to His call, His GRACE IS there all the way, and that glorious grace is overwhelming!

So, casting down every vain imagination, (2 Corinthians 10:5); resting in Him FULLY (Psalm 91); trusting in Him (Proverbs 3:5-6), I put one foot in front of the other and began this new phase of my journey.

I KNOW beyond any shadow of any doubt that He always provides everything that is needed when you are in the center of His will. Even when we do not see, cannot even begin to imagine where the path will eventually lead, even when the enemy tries to throw doubts and lies your way that you are ‘not up to the task’!  I CHOOSE to be obedient to His call. (see 1 Samuel 3)!

And, now, as I have walked through several doors of opportunity – sharing my story – the GRACE, the LOVE, the response of others has been incredible. The words He is having me speak are truly helping to reach out to the hearts and lives of others for their own healing and it is overwhelming.

There is a local radio station here in San Antonio, KDRY 1100 AM that airs a segment every Sunday afternoon at 2:30 pm called  “Urban Missionaries”. I will be sharing my own personal journey as well as the legal aspects of the issues and what is being done to educate people in this matter AND numerous areas of resources to help others who have (or are) experiencing the same as I – hiding a deep dark secret. You see, as we hide things deep inside, they grow/fester and cause all kinds of side effects that we do not even think have anything to do with it – I sure didn’t!

Another thing I have done is create a special page on our website with resource links and testimonies. My own journey will be posted soon as well, and I am praying for the funds to upgrade the website so that I can actually post the audio from the various broadcasts that I’m doing.

I pray that as you face whatever you find yourself facing today – whether current issues or something that is haunting you from your own past – that you can realize, accept and KNOW that His GRACE IS SUFFICIENT . . . in fact it is absolutely overwhelming (in the best possible way)!

The Importance of Eyesight

Published July 28, 2016 by birdieklh

feyesquint

image from peposevision.com

Recently I had my right eye operated on. Simple (yet my doctor told me “major eye surgery”), cataract removal with lens replacement is what the paperwork says. All I know is that the first three days were really rough for me because I had to be away from TV, Computer and phone screens – so instead I listened to scripture, declaration/prayers using scriptures, and soaking worship music. That part of it was great – but – being away from my family and friends for that amount of time was difficult for me.

Now that I am able to ‘function’ without a patch, but still with dark glasses when in bright light or outside, I find myself squinting all the time. Using enlarged text on my computer and phone, trying to focus on written words. That is hard for me since I’m working on another book trying to get it out by the end on next month. You see, my operated eye is still very blurry but I can not use my old glasses on it because it could cause damage. And without the glasses, my other eye is also very blurry. What a deal! Mercy! I know all will adjust itself in the end, and after the other eye is done, I may have to still wear glasses but until then I do not want to buy glasses temporarily while waiting for the next surgery in a month.

So, as in most all situations, I find myself asking the Lord to reveal to me a spiritual aspect to what I am experiencing in the natural.

Boy oh boy, did He answer me! Here are some things to ponder:

  • Am I seeing clearly in the Spirit?
    • why or why not?
  • What ‘lens’ am I looking through?
    • the lens of my own experience?
    • the lens of what I hear on Sundays only?
    • the lens of the media?
    • the lens of others around me (friends, family or even popular opinion)?
  • How distorted is my view?
  • Am I sure of the lens I’m using?
    • do I know that it will give me a clear picture of TRUTH?
    • does it bring everything into focus all the time or is it blurred and/or changes often?

I could actually go on, and I may at another time, but let us address these today.

There is ONLY ONE lens that is always the correct, and that is the lens that Holy Spirit provides. Only as we depend solely upon Him (as we pray, worship, study the Scriptures) to reveal Truth to us – AND – as we allow Him to direct us in applying it TO our lives, can we have clarity of vision within our spirit. When we use His lens, we don’t have to ever ‘squint’! He provides PERFECT clarity! He may not allow us to ‘see’ everything that is ahead of us, but He will give us clear direction and assurance of His protection along the way. (if we cannot see clearly, we will stumble and fall)

Let us keep our spirit eyes focused upon our Lord. Let us allow His Spirit to direct our spirit every moment of the day. Let us not resist all He is prepared to offer us – abundant life, overflowing joy, unexplained peace, just to name a few.

Clear-Vision1

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct  your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV

Also ALL of Psalm 119 tells us how important His Word is in our lives! Verse 105 is the main key, but I encourage you to do read the entire Psalm (to really go in-depth, here is a Bible Study for you – Psalm 119 – A Deeper Look.

I can hardly wait for my physical eyes to come back into full focus, and as I wait I am turning to getting a clearer vision with my spiritual eyes as well.

Abba Father, thank You for Your Holy Spirit! Thank You for Your Word! Thank you, Jesus, for Your example. Help me to maintain the clearness of vision that comes only through the lens You provide! May I be quick to be obedient to that which You reveal to me. Amen.
