Grieving Together

Published November 6, 2017 by birdieklh

We find ourselves the nation on our knees today after yesterday‘s horrible shooting in Sutherland Texas. It is a small town not too far from where I live. I don’t know anyone from that church but they are still my brothers and sisters. I do however know many who have gone down there to minister to those who are affected by this disaster, this tragedy, this horrific thing that should not of happened. Our heart aches, our tears flow freely yet there’s a part of us that knows beyond any shadow of any doubt that these precious ones who went from praising the Lord in their church home to praising Jesus in Person in their heavenly home with their Heavenly Father! Yes, that that does bring some comfort to our souls, yet the more mourning process is still heavy on our hearts. Yes Christians do grieve, Christian still mourn, Christian still cry. Remember, even our Lord Jesus Christ mourned and wept at the graveside of his dear friend Lazarus …

We drop to our knees, allow our tears to flow, ur hearts to cry out our anguish before the Throne, then we get up and be one His arms extended. We become His voice of love, speaking words of Hope and comfort and compassion. We start to help rebuild one moment, one step, one hug at a time. Through His LOVE.

WE…the body of Christ need to act with one heart, linking arms together….we are planning on bringing down Thanksgiving meals to the community, continued prayer and counseling….please join with us in praying for their faith to remain unshattered and for their healing to be quick; for the Lord to somehow turn this tragedy around into a glorious triumph for His Glory and the good of this precious tight-knit community.

Wasn’t it Just Yesterday?

Published September 9, 2016 by birdieklh

When our world turned upside down?

When all of our smiles and hopes

usa-10009_0

Image from Steve McCurry, pintrest

Turned into tears and frowns?

Wasn’t it just yesterday

When we watched those towers fall

In shock, despair and unbelief

Our prayers to God did call

Oh, Father of all creation,

What has happened to our nation?

Wasn’t it just yesterday

That tragedy struck our hearts

Words, thoughts, speculation

Thrown around like fiery darts?

We had revival for a short time

As people turned to You

For most, in their darkest hour

Sought YOU to see them through.

For those of us who KNOW You,

Always had that inner peace

Those who just for a time

Sought You for ‘release’ . . .

Yet, many, quite sadly

Too soon turned away

Back to the lives they knew

Allowing the world, their thoughts to sway.

Father, God, YOU alone are the answer to ALL we face

I seek You NOW with all my heart, asking for You for Grace . . .

To renew our faith . . . as we humble ourselves and pray . . .

As we truly run after You,

I KNOW that You are Faithful, Righteous and True.

In You there is healing, in You there is Hope

As we remember, and trust in You,

Lord, You help us to cope

With all the pain of those memories dear

That happened to us back in that year . . . 15 years ago . . .

Oh Lord, I pray, Your great mercy . . . show

Let people see their need of You

Let Your love begin to flow

Reunite Your body, Lord, and for this nation, may we pray

More earnestly, consistently,

And LISTEN to what You say –

For ONLY in You will there be Hope and Peace

….You set us free!

SO Much . . .

Published July 11, 2016 by birdieklh

So much anger.

So much pain.

So much grief, Lord,

Help me to remain

At peace with others, and walk in love

Your Perfect Love, sent from Heaven above.

Show me how to help them release

Their frustrations, their angst,

And grab a hold of  Your Peace!

It is only through You that we can find rest

In this land of turmoil and strife

Let us learn to walk in LOVE with others

As we face each day of life, for

Until Your return when all strife

Will CEASE . . . we can walk with Your Spirit

In Your PERFECT Peace –

Peace with You, by accepting Your Son

Peace with each other, Lord, make us ONE!

We need Your love,

Your grace,

Your peace,

Your wisdom, direction,

Lord, let it increase

Within our hearts and teach us to PRAY –

Pray with passion, with ferver, with tears

Over this Nation, once great, now filled with fears.

Let us use our voices before Your Throne

As well as speaking out here and now

To make Your Truth known!

The answer is YOU – for You are LOVE –

But we’ve neglected to show it

Oh, Father, forgive . . .

May we rise up and THROUGH YOU – LIVE!!!

Dear ones, we have wasted so much time NOT being on our knees before God on behalf of our Nation – our World! We have wasted so much time focusing on the things around us and allowing the enemy of our souls to dim our view of the VICTORY that is already ours through Christ’s finished work on Calvary!

We have forgotten who we are in Him and Who He IS in us!

We have forgotten to share the Hope we have – in fact, we have actually begun to speak gloom and doom along with the world around us!

SHAME ON US!!!

The time is NOW – Christian – ARISE! Wake-up! Speak out (in love) God’s principles! Take a stand (in love). We can be BOLD in our faith as long as we temper it with God’s Love remember it is His Kindness that leads to repentence!  Romans 2:4

Remembering? How Can We Forget?!

Published September 11, 2015 by birdieklh

Today is a day of great reflection.

It should be. 911

Today is a day when we all remember where we were and what we were doing on 9/11/01.

We should.

Today is a day when we contemplate the state of our United States, where we are headed as a Nation and our safety.

We should.

                     . . . BUT . . .

newsweek 911 photo

We should do this not just once a year on the anniversary of this tragedy, but every day!

We need the times of reflection to refocus our prayers over our nation, over our leaders, over decisions that are made and in the process of being made. We may not be politicians, but we DO have power – that power is PRAYER!

As we get down on our faces before the Lord, interceding for the things of this nation, praying for those in authority, asking God to grab hold of their hearts, turn them towards Himself and for His wisdom to be revealed through Godly advisers. Our prayers DO make a difference, my friends!

We can be praying for the families and businesses that were affected by the attack on our nation. Children have been growing up without one of their parents, perhaps both. Many have had to go on without their spouse, their child, their grandparent. People have had to change their way of life, the places where they work, perhaps so impacted that they could not even begin to think of ever working again in a high rise . . . many have moved into rural areas where they can ‘try’ to feel safe once more.

Our prayers DO make a difference!

So, go ahead, reflect upon this day and all that it represents . . . grieve along with our nation, but take it farther and bring it before the Lord – allow Him to heal whatever hurt is still in your heart – allow Him to strengthen and renew your thinking – allow Him to be your shelter, your safety – trust in Him – rest in Him!

Oh, America, America, My Beloved Homeland

It is usually with grateful heart, an attitude of joyous celebration and with exuberant pride in my country that I awaken on the morning of the 4th of July. However, quite sadly, this day has been one of great weeping.

I love the country of my birth. I love ALL that it has stood for. I love the principles that it was founded upon – “One Nation UNDER God” – but, alas, I find myself on my face today before that very God – Jehovah Tsidkenu (God, Our Saving Justice – Righteous and Just) – crying out for mercy over this land that has always held my heart.

Friendships, prayer partnerships, have developed over the years from all over the globe, thanks to the internet, and for that I am very grateful to God. In many discussions with these that the Lord has placed around my sphere of contact my underlying thought has always been, “I’m SO blessed to be an American!” We still have freedom! We can still worship our Lord God freely! We can still pray publicly! We  can still have our Bibles! We can still speak of His love with others! We are allowed to minister to those in jails, prisons, hospitals, etc! . . . but, now? Will these freedoms still last? Will they still hold true?

Our beloved forefathers left everything to seek out this land we call America, our home. A place where they could freely serve and worship the Lord. A land where Biblical principles were woven into the very fabric of our governmental society – papers were drawn up, signed, declared publically over our nation – all based upon God’s Word. Many, many lives have been lost; many, many bodies maimed beyond repair; all to continue the fight to keep our nation the mighty nation that God rose it up to be.

Why was our nation so mighty? So looked up to? So successful? Because it was a country / nation that set God’s Word as the basis for its principles, its governing law. The things we set out to do were God honoring, God fearing.

I love our flag – when I look at it I think of the following (this is my personal view):

  • The red stripes – remind me of the blood that Jesus shed for us to be free from the bondages of the enemy (satan) AND the blood that countless men and women have shed for our nation to remain free
  • The white stripes – remind me of holiness, how we need to walk holy before God, bringing honor to Him in all things. It reminds me of my complete surrender to Him in every area of my life, for in Him is TOTAL freedom
  • The blue square – blue, “a color that prophetically has celestial and heavenly power” (referenced from The Prophet’s Dictionary by Paula A. Price, PH.D.) – reminds me that God is over this nation of mine – it is His power that protects us
  • The white stars – stars, in the Bible refer to angels, so when I look at the stars on our flag, set in the blue, it reminds me that the angelic hosts of heaven are looking over us, there for us at all times
  • Waving in the wind – reminds me that Holy Spirit is always present, blowing over us, upon us, with His guidance . . . if we but listen

≈            ≈            ≈            ≈            ≈

In my Scripture reading and meditation this morning, Acts 13:10, Paul spoke up boldly to a ‘wise man’ (associated with the proconsul of the day) these words – “and said, you master in every form of deception and recklessness, unscrupulousness, and wickedness, you son of the devil, you enemy of everything that is upright and good, making crooked the straight paths of the Lord and plotting against His saving purposes…” (Amplified Bible) – after reading this twice, I thought to myself, through flowing tears, ‘Oh, if only someone were bold enough to speak up to our leaders in this way!’

Then, the cross reference in Hosea 14:9b, which says, “Who is wise, that he may understand these things? Pruden, that he may know them? For the ways of the Lord are right and the [uncompromisingly] just shall walk in them, but transgressors shall stumble and fall in them.” (Amplified Bible) – I found myself once more crying out for my beloved America, ‘Lord raise up men and women who love You, fear You (hold in reverent awe) and desire to honor You with their lives. Raise them up and set them in places where they can truly help America become “One Nation UNDER God” once more!’

Abba Father, I am still grateful for my beloved America. I KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that You are still in control of all things, and that You are, indeed, working behind the scenes to wake us up and help us arise and take our place as Your mighty bride – fully equipped to embrace and stand firm upon Your principles, not wavering. Lord, I can only cry out for Your mercy, grace and forgiveness over this land . . . as my heart is breaking today, I can only imagine what Yours must be feeling! God help us! and . . . God, may Your grace abound, Your mercy flow, Your Truth reign supreme . . . may your blessings once more be upon America, my beloved (earthly) homeland. amen

When Righteous Indignation Arises

There are times when things make us truly angry . . . we want nothing else but to scream out at the top of our lungs . . . to ‘blow off steam’ . . . to cry rivers of tears . . . to lash out . . . to hurt back . . . whatever your way of handling conflict is, there is truly only ONE thing we need to do when our world has seemingly been turned on its head . . . that is to:

GIVE IT OVER TO GOD

Know that if you’re hurting, He’s hurting too . . .

If your heart is breaking over something, think of how much more His heart is breaking over it . . .

Ask Him for His heart in the matter. Ask Him to reveal to You His love for the people around you. Ask Him to help you walk in His ways at all times, even the difficult ones like what we are facing right now in our nation / our world.

Dear ones, we MUST remember that it is His KINDNESS that leads to repentance.

Yes, we need to have righteous indignation over the situation at hand, but we must also stop, breathe in His presence, rest there, then proceed as He directs us . . . and I can guarantee that it will be a FIRM but LOVING response.

~ hate the sin . . . but . . . love the sinner ~

Remember the grace He has given us and be His ambassador . . . get yourself into worship mode, seek His presence, saturate yourself in Him and then we will be able to stand firm in His love, not showing any actions or attitudes that can be perceived as hate or malice for that only gives the enemy more ammo in his artillery.

Becoming Intolerant of Tolerance!

Published March 27, 2015 by birdieklh
from libertarianalliance.wordpress.com

from libertarianalliance.wordpress.com

Every day – everywhere – we hear the about being tolerant with those who are ‘different’ than us. Okay . . . I agree . . . to a point.

Here are some TRUTHS:

  • Humans are all the same – we have are a spirit, have a soul and live in a fleshly body.
  • Our bodies are not all identical – male, female, black, brown, red, white, mixed, short, tall, fat, skinny, etc.
  • We all have cells, organs, blood, bones, skin – we bleed when we are cut; we cry when we are wounded; we laugh when we are tickled, etc.
  • We all have been given (by God) ‘free will’; able to make choices, decisions as to how we will live our lives – living for God or living against God

Here are some facts:

  • Depending upon where we live, we may or may not have freedom to speak our faith
  • Depending upon what ‘religion’ we belong to, we may or may not have a voice at all
  • Depending upon our station in life, we may or may not be listened to as what we say may or may not be comprehended as ‘important/non-important”
  • Depending upon whether or not we are of a certain sex (male/female) our jobs may pay more than others, regardless of our education, training and/or skill level
  • What we choose to do (or not to do) with our free time should be regulated (laws put in place, forcing others to ‘accept’) so that all will be more equal

All of these ‘facts’ . . . what do you think:

  • freedom of speech?
    • Yes, but only if you don’t step on any toes . . . watch out . . . persecution, ridicule, even death may occur.
  • freedom of religion?
    • Yes, only if it doesn’t  step on any toes . . . watch out . . . persecution, ridicule, even death may occur.
  • everyone has a say in our ‘democratic’ society?
    • well, only if you have a huge pocket book to contribute to the ‘powers that be’ at the time and agree with their agenda!
  • education is the great equalizer?
    • unfortunately if you are woman, you still do not get paid the same . . . and, sometimes if you are NOT a minority (black or hispanic or bilingual) you will not even be considered for a position regardless if you are the most qualified!
  • laws created for ‘equalization’ and ‘tolerance’ make things  in society better?
    • this one is VERY hard . . . as a Christian, I CHOOSE to love everyone . . . regardless of how they choose to live their lives – but that does not mean that I wish to subject myself, my children, grandchildren, anyone (everyone) to have to openly view their choices.
      • I do not wish to be forced to be exposed to sex trade activities
      • I do not wish to be forced to share a bathroom with someone who has believed the lie that they are other than that which God created them to be
      • I do not wish to be forced to be on the road with people who feel they must be high on drugs and/or alcohol in order to cope with life – putting my life at risk
      • I do not wish to be forced to be quiet about my faith because it may or may not agree with someone elses. (As Christians, we can ‘choose’ to lay our denominational differences aside and worship our Lord together in the unity His Love brings.)

Dear ones . . . God IS Love (1 John 4:8) . . . we are created in His likeness (Genesis 1:27) and asked to become ‘imitators of Christ’ (1 Thessalonians  2:14) . . . so yes, I believe in being tolerant of others because we are all in different levels of our faith journey through this life, but NO, I believe we need to stand firm upon Biblical principles and present these truths to others IN LOVE . . . then cover them in prayer not judgmental/critical/hateful towards them . . . we must realize that it is God, through His Holy Spirit that does the inside work. Our job is to love them and share the Gospel with them – lovingly speaking Truth into their lives.

It is a fine line, and it is not an easy choice to make sometimes . . . but, as we become more ‘tolerant’ of things, the worse things become in our lives, our land, our world! Perfect example of this is found in Judges, chapter 1. The more the people of God decided to be ‘tolerant’ and ‘accepting’ of the things (people) that went completely against God’s Word, the worse their lives and their nations became. That is something that is so very clear, and we can see it ourselves . . . growing up we actually PRAYED in school, over the intercom, right along with our “God Bless America” song and the “pledge of allegiance” . . . that was taken out and things started to go down hill.

Every time we compromise, every time we give the enemy a foot in the door, or allow something else to be taken away from us, the worse our nation and our lives has become. Another example . . . spanking your child . . . MIND YOU  I’M NOT TALKING ABOUT BEATING HERE, but a spanking on the padded buttocks of a child that has misbehaved – not in anger, but in a pre-planned punishment for behavior . . . that taken away, made into something abusive has lead to children not only being disrespectful of parents but of all authority in society! We need only listen to the news reports to see this is true.

Here is an interesting article . . . “Land of Intolerance?” (actually, through the picture above is how I discovered it)

So, what is the solution? Only God! We need to pray like never before. We need to love like never before. We need to speak like never before. We need to be in The Word like never before, allowing it to penetrate and permeate through us in ever single aspect of our lives, whether or not it is ‘politically correct’!

~ Memorial Day ~

Published May 26, 2014 by birdieklh

flagbootsFor centuries brave men and women have served their country with a passion that those of us who have not been touched by it cannot even begin to comprehend.

Some returned home to their families, some did not – they paid the ultimate price – their lives, leaving in their wake only memories, the flag draped around their casket and perhaps a few other mementos.

This day has been set aside to honor them – for that passion, for their bravery, for their sacrifice.

Although our nation (which I still love and am proud to be a part of) has fallen greatly – not anywhere near what it was meant to be nor anywhere near the potentially great nation it could be, we still (and I pray this WILL continue) are a nation who is free to come and go as we please.

Free to choose our places of education.

Free to choose the places we shop.

Free to choose where and how we live.

Free to choose which church to worship at.

And, still free to own Bibles and to pray (although these places have been limited some, we still are not killed for our beliefs as in other countries).

I will never give up on America. I will forever be grateful for the men and women who have served our country, and I will forever pray for the families of those who have sacrificed their sons or daughters in the service of this country of ours.

God bless them.     God bless their families.    God bless America!

I must add this – many, many of those who did return home to their families and friends have scars so deeply embedded that we will never know just how wounded, physically, emotionally and spiritually they have been. Let us never ever forget to cover them in prayer. The healing process is a very long and hard journey – true healing and restoration for these precious souls will only come through the Great Physician – Jesus. Pray for them, pray for them to open up their hearts to His healing, His love – and that they would allow Him to touch those parts of themselves that have been shattered and restore their hope. That is my prayer, I hope it will be yours also.

– note – above photo, I’ve had this for so many years, I cannot remember the source. Please forgive if  it is yours, if you give me the reference, I will add it. Thank you –
