Faces Passing Through My Mind

I must warn you that if you go to this site and view this video you will never be the same – and now I learned that another 220 Christians have been captured in Syria!

Last night when I posted the blog about my heart being grieved, I did not post any photos – thought it was enough – but all through the night their faces kept passing through my mind. And then this morning, several passages in our Bible Study / Devotional time brought them back to my heart once more. I wish to share what the Lord has been showing me about these precious Christian brothers of ours.

Philippians 2:14-15 from The Message “Do everything readily and cheerfully – no bickering, no second-guessing allowed! Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society. Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light-giving Message into the night…” When we read this, I saw their faces again. Not a word of any anger or anguish or pain escaped their lips . . . just quiet peace-filled prayers. This verse described to me their example!

Proverbs 3:21-26 NIV “My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment, do not let them out of your sight; they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck. Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble; when you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the LORD will be your confidence…”Even now, as I have typed this in, the tears flow freely – their necks were graced with God’s loving grace . . . they walked to their death showing no fear . . . they were made to lay down yet instead of seeing fear, we saw peace . . . we could tell that God was their strength, their confidence . . . they were ready to be welcomed into the loving arms of their Lord and Savior! They WERE an example to all of us of God’s peace that passes all understanding, and the hope we have in our eternal Home with Jesus!

Later on in our reading times, one of the devotionals we use had us reading about Daniel and his choice to continue on in his regular routine of worshiping God even when he knew that it had been forbidden. He boldly faced the open window, looking out towards Jerusalem and worshiped! As we were reading this familiar passage once more the tears flowed as the Lord brought these faces before me again . . . God showed me that these dear ones were all Daniels! They KNEW the risks, yet they remained faithful to the Cross of Christ.

You see, to be absent from body is to be present with the Lord! Paul wrote this truth for us to grasp in 2 Corinthians 5 – this whole chapter is so very rich – while we are present in this body we have to contend with things – but that is NOT our final destination – verses 6-9 says, “Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. We live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So we make it our goal to please Him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.” I believe these men definitely knew this, clung to it, and personified it as they slipped from this life into their own Eternal Home and into the loving arms of their King, Jesus!  from http://www.graceindianfellowship.org/

Yes, my heart is grieved over this, and I don’t doubt that as the days progress we will be hearing more and more of such things, but there is also a great expectation and anticipation to the return of our Lord Jesus to rule and reign. We ARE in the process of the fulfillment of Scripture prophecies concerning the end of the age. To be a part of this time is both horrible and wonderful. Let us all be strong, determined to stand strong for our faith – no matter what the enemy may throw at us – remembering that the VICTORY is ALREADY won! Our victorious King, Jesus, conquered it all at Calvary!
