Tis that time once again . . . saying goodbye to one year . . . closing the door on all that transpired in our lives during the past 365 days and preparing to start fresh on the morrow . . .
What are you saying goodbye to?
Are you one of those who is ever so grateful for it to be ‘over’?
Or, are you one that is sad to see it end?
Regardless of where our emotions stand on the subject, the calendar will indeed be turned over as the clock of our lives continues to tick forward.
The Apostle Paul tells us “Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead” Philippians 3:13 – in other words – we are not to dwell (live in) the past things, no matter how wonderful OR how horrible! God is always calling us forward . . . desiring us to grow spiritually, maturing into the mighty men and women of valor He has created us to be.
I believe that what God desires of us is a change of focus – a change of mind-set. We are to know beyond any shadow of any doubt that God IS in control. That He has a future, plan and a hope for each and everyone of us. We can truly love and appreciate all of the many blessings we received during 2014, just as we can be grateful for all that He brought us through that was anything but a ‘blessing’ – the hurt, the pain, the sickness, the disappointment, etc. BUT – let us press on in great expectation of all that He has in store for us in the days ahead.
Dear ones – this is a time to reflect upon His goodness – His grace – His love – His provision – His protection – His guidance . . . a time of praise, worship and adoration to The One Who was and IS and is to come! That coming is approaching us ever quickly now . . . the signs are everywhere . . . let us ‘strain toward what is ahead’ . . . with hearts overflowing with gratitude – that He is our God – that He reigns supreme – that we belong to Him and He is leading us every step of the way – we have no need to fear, only rejoice as we see His approaching is drawing nearer day by day. Oh, let this night be a time of celebrating who He is – ever faithful – ever true – ever present. Let us be grateful for all the times we went through this past year, as they were times for our growth. And let us, as we turn the calendar, welcome in a new time of growth . . . let us enter into a deeper, richer, more powerful walk with our Mighty King!
GOODBYE 2014 – I’ve had many blessings this year, and many sorrows, but I have The One Constant, ALL Loving Savior Who has been right there leading and guiding me . . . I am ever grateful and I, for one, look forward with excitement and anticipation to all that He has in store for me starting tomorrow when the calendar turns.
