Now, well, I am better able to tolerate it – however, there has been little to no rain and for many days now and the sun has literally been playing hide and seek with the clouds!
Finally, late this morning while at our time of prophetic worship at church we heard the thunder rolling loudly. We started rejoicing, one person looked outside and declared that the skies had become quite dark and felt the rain coming. We rejoiced more – then the torrential downpour began. Since I happen to live across the street from my church, I was kind of wondering how soaked I will be when I do go home – but I laugh at myself because this is Texas, after all, and I should have known that it wouldn’t last but a very short while.
I walked home only minutes later in a dry environment – rusty brown grass still crunching under my footsteps. SIGH.
We SO need the rain . . . we need a rich, deep, slow, soaking rain to fall and continue to fall for at least a day or two. That will put a dent in the ‘need’ Texas has (at least the area I live in) for moisture. Every day for the past couple of weeks the clouds form – the meteorologists get hopeful and start speaking of the possibilities of rain – but it is hit and miss – a sprinkle here and there, but no real accumulation. Oh, perhaps a flash flood from the brief downpour but it quickly dissipates. I’ve honestly not ever experienced anything quite like this before.
As always, my mind starts exploring the spiritual parallels.
We, too, need to quit playing hide and seek with The Father!
We need to sit in His presence and allow His love, mercy, grace, strength, encouragement, wisdom and direction to saturate our being.
We need to keep ourselves open and receptive to what He is trying to tell us.
Unlike the natural rain which can be quite stubborn to open up and water the thirsty ground, God is ALWAYS ready to wash us with His Word and to fill us to overflowing with His Living Water which will NEVER run dry . . . it is ours for the asking, ours to receive at all times.
Thank You, Abba, for Your incredible presence. For the accessibility You have granted us to Your never ending River of Life. Thank You for loving us so much that You desire our presence before You, You desire to pour out Your blessings upon us – to quench every thirst – to water every dry and barren area of our lives. How I praise You, my Father! As I gaze up at the sky, although the clouds be gathering dark around, I see Your smile shining down radiantly upon the seeking souls of those who are seeking You – thank You, thank You, thank You!!! Amen
