Oh Lord, this load is heavy
I’m bending beneath the weight
Of pain, of grief, of fear
Of dreams broken like a plate
I feel my back is breaking
And I’m sinking to the ground
Perhaps I will fall completely in
Never again to be found
Is that possible – to be swallowed up
By the pressures of this life?
What can we grab on to
To ease this daily strife?
I look around at others
Praying for some relief
But they, too, carry loads,
Barely able to move their feet.
Surely someone, somewhere
Can tell me what to do
With this heavy load I carry
Day by day, all year through

Oh my goodness! I sure remember feeling this way before, and I am fairly sure that most of you can relate also. Life truly can seem to be completely unbearable at moments. Sometimes those moments feel like they are stretching out for endless time, with no foreseeable relief available.
There are times when it appears that everyone around you, at work, at school, at home, even at church, all seem to be struggling underneath heavy back breaking loads of their own. You don’t want to burden them when you see they have their own burdens.
That is a lie directly from the pit of hell! We all face things, yes. We all are overwhelmed sometimes, yes. But . . . we are meant to share our burdens with one another! As we reach out to help others, miraculously the Lord actually lifts our own load making it ever so much lighter.
Sharing our loads, our burdens, with one another is simply being open and honest with each other. Allowing others to speak God’s Truth over the situation in our lives, and we do the same with them. If we continue to walk around all the time around fellow believers with a ‘mask’ in place, hoping that they will believe that we always have it all together – honestly – we are only adding heavier loads to our own back breaking burdens!
Two words help explain what I’m trying to say . . .
Even Jesus, when faced with His impending arrest, beating, death, spoke to his disciples and asked them to join Him in praying! If He, being completely perfect in every way, needed to reach out to allow others to help Him bear His burden – how dare we think we do not?!
“What will they think if they know what I’m really struggling with?” – Who cares?! BE REAL! Chances are their back breaking loads are full of something similar, and most likely they are wondering what you will think of them. Bottom line – it ONLY matters what God thinks of us . . . and, dear ones, He does NOT like us to be like the Pharisees, pretending to be religious, pious, etc. when we are actually wallowing in the filth of our own making by hanging on to and continuing to carry loads of ‘stuff’ that are breaking our spiritual backs!
God wants us to be completely FREE!!!! Healthy, whole, complete in Him! Jesus came to set the captive free – that means every single thing you have so neatly wrapped up and loaded into that bundled burden you are carrying!
Why do we continue to carry these things that weigh us down, crushing us? Don’t you WANT to be free? Of course you do . . . the enemy is just trying to convince you that you will be a failure if you open up and share your worries, cares and concerns with someone else . . . that you will be rejected, ridiculed . . . that is a lie . . . what you will be is FREE!
