So many choices! Which one do we choose to enter into? Which one? We choose, we go towards it, it is either open or shut.
Perhaps it is open and you breeze right on through it like the wind . . . then you may turn and gaze out of it and notice there are others open . . . did you make the right choice? How do you know? You run back out, go the next one that is open, go inside – unsure, you test the atmosphere . . .
Then again, maybe you chose one that you just KNEW was the right one, only to find it locked and bolted – sealed up tighter than a drum. You keep trying. You keep gazing at it, willing it to open wide for you, it doesn’t. You get angry. You get frustrated. You just do NOT understand, it ‘felt’ so right. It ‘looked’ so right. You are tenacious, you refuse to give up and so you keep trying to pull and tug at that door or window, straining with all your might to get it open because you truly believe this is the right one. It won’t budge.
You try one after another after another – if it is locked you are disheartened, you begin to feel discouraged. You are tempted to throw up your hands and say “I quit!” If it is open, you still may find yourself in turmoil – unsure if you have chosen the right one.
You turn, you look back over the choices, and somehow the choices seem to have all turned into rubbish.
How did that happen? Where were the beautiful doors and windows that you had tried to find as yours? Locked or unlocked, the choices seemingly are gone . . . you question yourself . . . why didn’t I stay and work within the one I was able to enter into instead of always looking for something else?
Now, you can’t go back. You can not try that particular door or window again. Their time has passed, and your time to participate in that distinct opening has passed. Now what?
P R A Y !
It is what we should have done in the very first place!
When we try things on our own, we often allow ourselves to get into places and situations that are not meant for us to actually be in.
God has a specific plan for each one of us . . . yes, we do good things, we try to be a person that people can look up to, but there are ‘good ideas/good plans’ and there are ‘God ideas/God plans.’
When we submit our lives to Christ, when we make that decision to live for Him, well, that includes seeking HIS direction in ALL things. So, let us pray, seeking Him first, asking for His guidance – what path does He have for us?
Then, trust that He will lead you to the very place He has for you . . . Let HIM swing open that door or window and then follow Him through it!
His peace will flood your being. His strength for all that lay ahead will be yours. Your vision (spiritually) will be clearer. Your understanding of His will, sharper. Your direction, sure.
“Seek ye first, the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, then all these things will be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
“The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.” Isaiah 58:11
“For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.” Psalm 48:14
