“Daughter”, He answers, “go in My strength, KNOW I am with you.”
“Son”, He answers, “be strong and courageous, because this battle belongs to Me. Victory is already at hand.”
Do you recognize yourself in either of these? I know I sure have found myself at that place. It is a very hard place to be in. Attacks on every side. Attacks from outside sources – finances, job security, transportation issues. Attacks from close by – friends, family. Attacks from within – doubts, health, concerns, bad memories, negative thoughts.
When these attacks come (oh, and they will), we must remember what God’s Word says!
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9b NIV
“No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD.” Isaiah 54:17b NIV
“If you make the Most High your dwelling– even the LORD, who is my refuge — then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;” Psalms 91:9-11 NIV
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
Job, one who faced far more than I believe any of us have had to face, declared to the Lord, “I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted.” Job 42:2 NIV
Paul, when in the midst of his own extreme hardships and struggles declared, “ I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:12-13 NIV
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:10-19 NIV
So, dear ones, as we face this thing called LIFE, keep your focus on God. On His promises. Do as His Word tells us – make Him your dwelling place, put ON the full armor that He has given us, and KNOW that He is always with us wherever we go!
Yes, it IS a battle, but one that He has already won for us. The enemy IS defeated. Just stand firm – be strong (in Him) and courageous!
