Judging or Praying?

Published March 4, 2014 by birdieklh

supplied through www.all-free-download.com There are a number of people in the public eye that I have known to be ‘Christians’. They have proclaimed it before the world, and yet, within the past five months or so I have heard or read statements they have made (or so the articles said – interviews, etc.) that reflect non-Christian values which they are now supporting. Quite frankly, this grieves my spirit with such an intensity that it is almost unbearable.

Now, my first reaction (in the flesh) is to start thinking, “boy, I am not sure I care for THAT, maybe I shouldn’t be so keen on still following them”…but then I realize that that is ‘stinking thinking’ (to quote Zig Ziggler) and take those thoughts captive. They are still my brother, they are still my sister, they are just believing a lie and have become clouded and/or confused by the ruler of this world (Satan).

So, what do I/we do? How can we help change the circumstances, the belief – shifting – that has taken place? Simply by praying and speaking Truth in Love as the Lord leads us.

You see – we focus, mainly, on keeping ourselves in right standing with the Lord, which is well and good. We must do this! But, we also have an obligation to pray for others. This is something we do; family, friends, co-workers, etc. but what about people in ministry? What about people who are out in the spotlight, in the public eye? Yes, we pray for our pastors and sometimes even pray for ministries . . . what about praying for those outside our realm? People who are influencing our lives with the things they are doing? Authors, Musicians, Artists; those who have used their gifting and talents for the Lord (whether in ‘ministry’ or being a Christian in the secular sphere?) They have ministered to us in many ways, touched our hearts, deeply, with their words or paintings. What about them? We appreciate them. We truly love the results of their work in our lives as they minister to us, but do we COVER them in prayer on a regular basis? Most likely, no.

Satan delights in destroying! There is no greater joy for him than to have someone in the limelight tumble and crash hard. We MUST pray, daily, for all who are in ministry in the ‘public eye’ (I’m speaking today of ANYONE who professes Jesus as Lord of their lives even though not in a ‘specific’ ministry).

The tactics of the enemy are always the same – the pride of life, lust of the eye, and lust of the flesh – “if it feels good, do it” kind of mentality. We struggle ourselves with ‘taking every thought captive’, we must pray for a hedge of protection around the hearts and minds of those with any type of influence on us in the media! It is SO easy to fall into the wrong way of thinking, yes, even as Christians, IF we do NOT take captive our thoughts and line them up with the Word!

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money; boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God – having a form of godliness but denying its power.” 2 Timothy 3:1-5

What are we to do? PRAY!!! And . . . “the Lord’s servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.” 2 Timothy 2:24-26

When Christians who have been in the spotlight, those that have have had an impact on our lives in some way, do not take their thoughts captive – they actually hand themselves over to the enemy’s tactics. They start embracing lies instead of the truth. The results can be devastating to new believers in Christ (especially), but also to all believers – not to mention the non-believers becoming even more confused. It puts forth the wrong message out there, that certain things must be “okay” if they are living it . . . after all . . . aren’t they ‘great Christians’? Abba Father, have mercy!

Dear ones, I am not speaking today with rash judgment or condemnation, but from a broken spirit! www.jesuit.org.sg There is a DEEP grieving going on inside my being that I can only imagine is just a pinch of what our Lord is feeling! We MUST start praying for others, faithfully . . . that their spirit eyes would be open to the truth of God’s Word, and that they would truly repent (change their mindset) and turn back to purity and holiness – in their actions as well as their public proclamations . The lies of the enemy must be revealed!!!

“Stern discipline awaits him who leaves the path; he who hates correction will die.” Proverbs 15:10

“Do not be misled; ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’ Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God – I say this to your shame.” 1 Corinthians 15:33-34

“It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.” Hebrews 6:4-6

My deepest belief is that there is always hope for salvation, even up to our last breath, for what is impossible for man is possible with God. We do not know the heart and/or relationship that people have with the Lord, that is between them. We have no place to judge or condemn, only to love and to pray. 250

Abba Father, with a heavy heart I come to You, repenting of my lack of prayer cover for those who are working for You in all areas of ministry. I ask for a hedge of protection to be placed around them, for their relationship with You to deepen, that they would remain IN the Word and continue to KNOW Your truth and walk in it. Purity, holiness and commitment to You in all aspects of their lives. And, Abba, for those who have fallen for the enemy’s schemes, I pray for the light of Your love to envelope them. Open the eyes of their understanding, let them see that they have fallen for the lies, and give them repentant hearts. Oh, Lord, I lift them up before You, pleading for mercy and grace until they understand what they have done, and can turn back to You, in Jesus Name, amen.
